Elizabeth Sullivan Art – working with oil paints, encaustics and mixed media on a variety of supports to create incredible art.
Encaustic as a medium dates back to ancient Egypt. I melt beeswax and damar resin and then add various pigments to make different colors and transparencies. Each painting is built up in layers with each new layer being fused to the preceding one. I also combine other media, such as oil pastel, oil paint, collage or photo transfers, with the encaustic.
